Biotopix PhotoProtect SPF50+
BIOTOPIX® PHOTO PROTECT® is a novel concept based on the necessity of using full-spectrum photoprotection, especially as regards to the damage caused to the skin not only by UVR, but also by visible light and IR radiation.
Following this concept, the investigators in charge of formulating BIOTOPIX® PHOTO PROTECT® products have developed on the same bases two creams which offer strict protection against UVA, UVB, visible light and IR radiation, but also permit DNA repair, this latter being damaged by all these radiations. BIOTOPIX® PHOTO PROTECT® Cream SPF 30 and BIOTOPIX® PHOTO PROTECT® Cream SPF 50+ include a combination of five chemical UV filters, and in SPF 50+ the formula is strengthened by the addition of Titanium Dioxide.
Over time, skin ages and loses its youthful appearance. Wrinkles appear around the eyes, fine lines bloom around the lips, and age spots surface on the hands. While some of these factors are natural and unavoidable, many of the visible signs of aging are caused by the sun, and can be avoided. Actually, external factors that contribute to skin aging include mainly sun exposure and ultra-violet radiation (at 80% of cases). Photo-aging refers to changes in the skin that occur after prolonged exposure to external agents, mainly UV radiation, but also visible light and IR radiation. In in vivo skin explants, exposed to the midday sun, in the presence of a set of filters, the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) was provoked at 4% by UVB, and UVA and 45% by visible light and 50% by IR. Therefore, the latest innovation in sun protection research is the development of ingredients for total protection on the complete solar spectrum.
Visible Light Protection Properties - As a protector against visible light we have incorporated in our formula an original synthetic melanin. This synthetic, fractionated melanin is tailored to absorb in the violet/blue range of 400-500 nm.
